Welcome to 2022!
This January represents the third year that Sioux Falls Food Tours has featured some of the challengers in the DTSF Burger Battle. Each week, we will explore at least four burgers (1/4 of each) and cast our votes through the DTSF Passport. It is a great time of exploring the imaginations of the chefs in Sioux Falls. Some of the creations are whimsical, some are monstrous, buy all are delicious.
Not only will you be delighted with the amazing tastes, but you will also learn Sioux Falls history along the way. We will start with a beverage at a local brewery and then traverse the downtown landscape on our way to different restaurants.
Last year’s winner was my personal favorite. Papa Woody’s Woodfired Pizza decided they wanted a piece of the burger battle action and set out to create an amazing burger. Boy, did they succeed! Having never even offered burgers prior to the competition, they purchased a small flattop for making burgers. It was no surprise that they won however. Steve and Lisa are masters at flavor combinations. It wasn’t much of a stretch to put together the perfect combination of flavors to win the burger battle. Papa Woody’s is always a stop on our north end tour that is offered the first weekend of the month. The winning burger is still on their menu but I am excited to delve into their newest creation to see how it compares. If you have never tried their pizza, you should! I have two personal favorites – The Buffalopeno and The Greek.
This year there are 27 entries and we will not be able to partake of all of them. Some restaurants are not open between 1-4 pm on Saturday afternoon and there is just not enough time to enjoy every entry….:( But, join us each week my friend and you are sure to get a smile…and a full stomach with some amazing burgers.
New this year, we are hitting the road to also partake in the Hartford burger battle! We will be loading up in Sioux Falls and heading over the river and though the woods to…Hartford! Only 10 spots available for this tour! Off on a new adventure… Hint, there will be even a tour heading further north in March! Stay tuned!
